Alaskan Klee Kai Breeder Buying Tips

By Kerri Stout

In the 1970s, the Klee Kai was introduced as a smaller breed that looks similar to the Siberian Husky. Linda Spurlin was responsible for the development of the line after mixing similar types of canine genetics. The reputable Alaskan Klee Kai breeder advises on the methods that should be followed when it comes to the purchase of pets for the home.

The small breed of dog will include a weight of between 10 and 20 pounds depending on the toy or standard size. It is important to consider the requirements of each type of dog and whether it is the correct choice for your lifestyle. Take the time to determine the overall health requirements that should be met from food to exercise for well adjusted canines.

The Alaskan Klee Kai is growing in popularity and has been produced by the crossing of some more well recognized breeds that are available. Some of the canine lines that have been included range from the Alaskan Husky, Siberian Husky, and Schipperke to the Eskimo Dog. It is also commonly referred to as a miniature Alaskan Husky recognized as a higher energy and well natured pet.

The breed was established in 1988 and has since become a popular choice of pet receiving increased attention from celebrities. The purpose of the breed was to offer companionship in a smaller size when compared to the husky. It is recognized by many kennel associations internationally.

It is important that all buyers consider as to whether they are interested in the breed that weighs 10 lbs and grows to a height of 13 inches for the toy size whereas standard sizes grow up to 17 inches. When meeting with a breeder, you may wish to take a pup home as a result of its cute factor, but remaining objective can aid in making the right purchase decision. Research should be implemented into its care including its shedding and need for continuous exercises.

While the coat does not require a great deal of grooming, longer hair in this breed may disqualify it as a purebred animal. It performs well in cooler climates as the thicker and denser coat prevents against loss of temperature and requires a quick brush in order to prevent the formation of matting. The standard shades that can be purchased include a mixture of white, black, and grey while a snow white pup is not considered suitable for registration.

In the search for the right pup to join the family, it may not prove simple and requires an investigation into the options available. One should only seek pups from a reputable breeder in the industry who can be sought by means of directories, recommendations, and established websites. Do not support the practices of a backyard breeder where there is a lack of certification and concern for the well-being of animals.

One should search for the right pup based on thorough homework. Only seek pups with health clearance indicating its genetic health in the form of a certificate. Investing in the necessary research can assist in making a suitable purchase choice.
