What Makes That Wonderful Puppy A True Standard English Cream Goldendoodle?

By April Briggs

As Goldendoodles became an available new breed, they seemed to bring out the best qualities that their parents had shown. Combining a Golden Retriever and Standard Poodle produced a completely new kind of dog that barely shed, was smart, and tending to be very loyal to their owners. Their coloring was an attractive gold. As time went on, the occasional very light white offspring cropped up in litters, and some breeders began to advertise them for sale. But, to be truthful, these are not English creams. Here are some details that will support your purchase of the right puppy.

You need to be careful when buying your pup from any breeder. Checking for a certificate of pedigree for its parents is of primary concern. If the ancestors were imported from Europe, which could include countries such as Spain and Holland, then your puppy is an authentic standard English Cream Goldendoodle. Beware of kennels that primarily sell Goldendoodles, but happen to have a few lighter color creams. These may not be what you are truly wanting to buy.

Determine if you have the correct size for standard by inspecting its parents. The average standard height in inches is about twenty two. Medium height in inches should be around seventeen. Small heights are usually around fourteen. The typical larger dogs will also weigh more. Be certain you are ready to house and feed quite a large pup.

Look for paperwork that designates your puppy choice with an F number. This may appear as F1 or F1B, or something similar. These numbers and letters show how much poodle and retriever the litter actually is, by percentage. The owner of an excellent kennel will explain this system to you. You should be given certification of the generation and ancestral history of any dog you buy.

In addition to the correct paperwork, there are some other things that will ensure your doggie will be ready to come home. These designer created dogs are truly good with the families who adopt them. But, what the best kennels do to prepare them for this bonding is to begin potty and behavior training before hand. While intelligent, they can be stubborn and curious, which makes them difficult to behave when young. If the kennel owners do not take initial steps to socialize these animals, their first days at their new forever homes are likely to be problematic.

It is highly important for an experienced veterinarian to stop by and see a litter of new puppies on the day they are born. These are the skilled professionals who will give proper vaccines, conduct thorough checks for good health and give medications to rid the dogs of worms. These things should be done before any of the litter is purchased. Too often, when these steps are ignored, owners find that they have very ill pets at home.

Puppies always need to have their first early claws, called dew, removed. Kennels that do not provide proper care will pull those sensitive young items out with pliers. This is painful, and can result in bad infections. Good kennels have their veterinarian do this work, using proper pain medications and antibiotic follow up. Do not buy from owners where great care is not taken for this procedure.

Concern, caring and certifications are of prime importance when seeking out authentic English Cream pups. These three things will help you to determine which breeders offer authenticity and which you will want to offer your business.
