Reasons Why Round Bale Hay Net Is Perfect For Horse Feeding

By Iva Cannon

Horse farms are finding effective ways to keep their horses healthy and well fed but at the same time, be able to save costs. The bill for getting the hays which are the primary food for these animals reaches high amounts which is up to forty percent of the total farm expenses. Thus, it is crucial to invest on hay nets that control the feeding but does not deprive the animals from getting the adequate amount of food intake.

There is a need to really take extra care of equines. They cost a lot and they are sold in hundreds or thousands of dollars depending on the breed. One of the most effective feeding mechanisms for horses is the round bale hay net. This is now widely used in farms situated in different regions.

Using the nets, they will be able to save energy, time, and money. The horses will have enough feed for twenty four hours approximately. This is so because they will not be able to take large amounts of hay if there are nets. Hence, choking is also prevented and they will not be at risk. Moreover, this will lessen eye injuries and will give other equines equal chances in getting just enough hay to feed on.

It slows down consumption because it will control the feeding process. The equines will not be able to get huge amounts. Thus, this will save energy and money since the caretakers will not have to get more feeds. Also, it will make sure that the hay will last for as long as twenty four hours.

If the horses are left alone to choke because of eating too much, they could be seriously affected. Thus, they need to be given only adequate amounts that they can chew. Through this, they will only be allowed to get the right amount gradually instead of taking too much causing a dangerous choke.

In addition, this will keep them safe from hurting their eyes. The tendency of horses is that they greedily feed on the hay and then when they put their heads on the feeder, they will injure their eyes. With the net, especially when secured tightly, will not allow any sharp hays poking out of the holes.

The older equines will find it convenient to feed on the nets because they are only capable of getting small amounts. This technique also allows fair feeding for the other animals especially the old and younger ones. It is crucial to consider their safety at all costs.

These are made of drawstrings that are forty eight ply. These are designed to stretch at a certain length so that the horse feeding on it will be able to pull some hays without difficulty. In addition, the net needs to be tightly wrapped underneath with the drawstrings so that they will not get any chances of chewing off the strings.

The shapes are round or square. The best way to put them must begin from the top and then down under so that the hays are secured and will not pole out of the holes as much as possible. The small holes are for follies and minis while the bigger holes are for the bigger stallions and adults.
