Selecting A Dog For Your Lifestyle

By Daphne Bowen

Dogs are very popular among people and a lot of people would want to have a dog. However, the thing about owning dogs is that the pet has to suit the lifestyle of the master which means that the master has to choose the type of canine that will suit his way of living. So when choosing, here are some tips on selecting a dog for your lifestyle.

Now the first and most obvious thing that one would have to take note of would be the size of the canine that one would want to get. Obviously he has to know if the pet will be able to fit inside his house or not. If he lives in a big house, then he may actually get himself big dogs like dalmatians, rottweilers or even german shepherds.

Now for those who would stay in flats or condominium units, then a small dog would most likely be preferable. Now smaller dogs are great for these kinds of places because they will not take up too much space. Some great dogs for those who live in flats would of course be the toy poodles and the pomeranians as they are really tiny.

Now yet another very important thing to think about would be how energetic the canine is. Now if one is the sit at home type of person who would want his pet to sit beside him and relax, then it is not a good idea to get a pet that is frisky. Some of the good breeds that would be able to take this lifestyle would be the shih tzu or the chow chow as these are not very high energy pets.

If one is the active type and does not mind running around after his pet, then he may as well get a frisky canine. Some frisky canines are actually spitzes and some big dogs like the rottweilers. These dogs do not mind running around a lot and would be full of energy for the owner to play with.

Now for health reasons, one has to think about just how hairy his canine is. Just think what would happen if one has a hairy little pet and he or his family members would have allergies or asthma. So for these types of situations, it is best to get a canine that does not have too much hair probably like a german shepherd or a chihuahua.

Of course if he has no asthma, allergies, or any conditions that may be triggered by hair, then he may get hairy dogs. Some of the best and most recommended ones would be the shih tzu, the japanese spitz, or the poodle. These dogs are rather low maintenance and are very loving to their masters.

So for those who would want to get a little canine, then here are some things to remember. Now dogs are very popular in Tulsa, OK as there are many dog breeders there and pretty much everyone there has a pet dog. The breeders will advise new time owners as to how to choose the perfect pet.
